Join us on Tuesday, August 13 for an all ages, yoga in the park event to celebrate the community of Bridgeland! 

Hosted by Calgary Iyengar Yoga & Blush Lane Organic Market, enjoy a 1 hour class led by Deanna and Sharoni from Calgary Iyengar Yoga. Afterwards enjoy some vegan iced chai tea, raffle prizes and giveaways! All ticket proceeds will be donated to the Women’s Center. We encourage you to bring a friend, a mat and meet us in the park!

This event will go rain or shine (we have an indoor back up space in case of weather). No yoga experience required and all levels welcome. Registration is necessary and the cost is $10 per person. 

About Calgary Iyengar Yoga:

The CIY community is welcoming, approachable, inclusive and friendly. Our teachers are highly trained and are required to continue their education so you’ll receive expert instruction. 

About the Hosts, Deanna and Sharoni:

Deanna is the co-director of CIY and has a deep respect and passion for the tradition of Iyengar Yoga and the culturing of intelligence and wisdom in body, heart and mind. Deanna has been involved in the community and practicing for over a decade. She has studied with Margot Kitchen, Marlene Mawhinney, Eyal Shifroni, Usha Devi and Faeq and Corine Biria while continuing annual training with Jawahar Bangera and other senior teaches. Her teaching style is vibrant, sincere and fun.

Sharoni is the founder and co-director of CIY. Her yoga journey began 17 years ago and five years later she took her first workshop with Faeq Biria, who profoundly inspired her in the subject. Sharoni has a Bachelor’s degree in philosophy. Sharoni practices locally with Norman Sjoman and continues annual training with Faeq and Corine Biria and Jawahar Bangera. She has taken multiple trips to Pune, India, to study with the Iyengars and is the Membership Chair and an Assessor-In-Training for the Iyengar Yoga Association of Canada. Sharoni brings intensity and heart to her classes and encourages dedication and insight.  


About the Women’s Centre:

The Women’s Centre of Calgary is a grassroots community organization offering women opportunities to both receive and provide support, connect with others and build community through a variety of programs. Our trust-based work, supported by over 700 active volunteers, is centered on a philosophy of women helping women. Allowing a woman to both get support and give back as she is able provides her with opportunities to feel valued and to maintain a sense of dignity and belonging.
